"Being a farmer is a lot of responsibility. We are the caretakers for our livestock, our land, and our community. I take that responsibility very seriously." - Kat Peper

Hi there! Kat Peper here, and I am excited to share with you a little bit about our farm Granite Hills Farm LLC. My husband Brady and I farm together. He is a Wisconsinite, and I am a Cali girl turned Wisconsinite. We met through a mutual friend in Farm Bureau. We both come from farm backgrounds and share a love of farming and cows.

I grew up on my family’s dairy farm in California, and my passion for agriculture and love of cows started at a young age. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to grow up on a farm and still be involved in agriculture. I love to share the farm life with others.

We are in the beautiful, rolling, granite hills of south-central Wisconsin in Sauk county. We farm about 200 acres of pasture, corn, soybeans, and hay. We currently have about 45 cow-calf pairs and 30 feeder cattle. We also raise chickens for eggs and hogs. Currently, Brady and I both work full-time off-farm jobs. So, farming happens in the evenings, on weekends, holidays, vacation days, etc. We currently sell meat and eggs to friends and family, and those in our local community, but have plans for more coming soon.

Being a farmer is a lot of responsibility. We are the caretakers for our livestock, our land, and our community. I take that responsibility very seriously. Growing up on a dairy farm, I was taught from a young age that the cows provide for us, and in turn, we need to provide for them. The cows always come first. Same thing holds true for our land. It provides for our cows and for us, so we need to provide and care for it. This is still very true for me today, just with a different kind of cow and a different piece of land.

If you would like to follow along with our crazy farm life, you can check us out on Facebook and Instagram @GraniteHillsFarm. See some more day-to-day stuff on the farm as well as updates when we have meat available and when we have some special events on the farm.
