"We take pride in producing beef that feeds families across the state of Wisconsin and beyond."
Hello! We are Dennis and Lisa Schlimgen and together with our children, farm, and cattle, we are Dreamy 280. We are located 30 miles west of Madison in Blue Mounds, Wis. We are going to share with you our cattle operation - Dreamy 280 Cattle Co., and our meat business and farm store - Dreamy 280 Farm Fresh Meats, LLC. We take pride in producing beef that feeds families across the state of Wisconsin and beyond.
Our farm consists of 280 acres, and we raise beef cattle, corn, and hay. It was always our dream to raise our children on a farm just as we were, hence the name Dreamy 280. Our herd is comprised of about 150 Angus and Shorthorn cattle and of that we calve out 80 cows. Dreamy 280 Cattle Co. offers its customers quality bulls, show prospects, and breeding stock. We utilize some technology to help us with our operations. Our cows are equipped with an ear tag heat detection program. Cows are bred by artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and a herd bull. We have installed cameras in our barn so we can remotely watch cows that are calving in maternity pens. Our farm dog’s herding capabilities is one old school technology that will never be able to be replaced on the farm!
Dreamy 280 Farm Fresh Meats, LLC will soon be entering its official 10th year. Our meat sales started as a side hustle and quickly grew into a stable direct market meat business. Our on-farm store is open two days a week. We also sell to restaurants, local food programs, farm-to-table partners, and an on-line food ordering delivery hub. In our farm store we offer all retail beef cuts, beef CSA shares, quarter, half, and whole beef, gift boxes, and holiday beef cuts. We also sell seasonal sunflowers which are grown at Dreamy 280. Additionally, our farm store carries hundreds of products that are primarily sourced from Wisconsin.
We look forward to what the future has to bring for our family and Dreamy 280! Our youngest daughter, Hope, was married to Matt at our farm just 1 month ago. Our grandchildren will soon be heading to their first cattle shows as exhibitors. There are exciting adventures ahead for the Schlimgens and all aspects of Dreamy 280! We want to particularly thank the Wisconsin Beef Council for hosting us, supporting and promoting beef, agriculture, and Wisconsin beef farmers!

Dairy farmers' primary business is producing milk, but they also produce beef from market cows and bull calves. In fact, about 20 percent of the beef produced in the United States comes from dairy animals.
