Crooks Family Meatloaf

"This basic meatloaf recipe is special to us. It was handed down from my mom, handed down to her from my grandmother. This recipe was such a family tradition that when I graduated college and asked for some recipes to use on my own, my mom had to write it down from memory as she didn't have a written copy. I grew up eating this meatloaf and now it is the same recipe my wife and I make for our family. I plan to pass the recipe down to my kids to be enjoyed by the next generation as well!" Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean Ground Beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1 egg

Topping:

  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine Ground Beef, onion, milk, oatmeal, and egg in a medium mixing bowl, mixing gently, but thoroughly. Shape beef mixture into 8 by 4-1/2-inch loaf on a foil lined pan or, if you have a meatloaf pan, use that. Combine sauce ingredients in a small bowl and spread over the loaf.
  2. Bake uncovered in 350°F oven for 1 hour or until instant-read thermometer inserted into center registers at 160°F. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
