The Wisconsin Beef Council (WBC), based in Madison, Wisc., is looking to hire a full-time Director of Communications and Outreach.  Under the direction of the Executive Director, the successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks that support the marketing, communications and educational programs of the Council.  

The roles and responsibilities of the Director of Communications and Outreach will include, but are not limited to:  oversee communications activities for WBC, including producer and consumer newsletters and press releases; responsible for regular, timely updates, in conjunction with the Director of Marketing, to the WBC website and social media properties; implement the Beef in the Classroom grant program, and fulfill teacher requests for classroom materials and presentations; plan and execute Farm to Fork tours for identified influencer groups across the state; and coordinate strategy to educate consumers about beef production and beef farmers in Wisconsin. To effectively handle the position, the individual needs a B.S. degree and an agricultural background.  In addition, the qualified applicant will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be detail orientated and able to prioritize tasks, balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign products preferred.

The Wisconsin Beef Council is a producer-directed not-for-profit organization funded by the $1.00 per head assessment on all cattle sold in the state of Wisconsin per the Federal Beef Promotion and Research Act & Order. Half of one dollar remains in Wisconsin for local beef promotion, while the other half is forwarded to the Cattlemen's Beef Board. The purpose of the Council is to fund beef promotion, research and consumer education activities supporting Wisconsin's $2.1 billion beef industry.  The WBC operates under the guidance of its Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of representatives from cattle related organizations from around the state.
