BOLD (Beef in an Optimal Lean Diet)

Heart health is certainly top of mind these days.
- The health and media communities are gearing up for American Heart Month in February.
- Earlier this month, US News & World Report recognized the DASH diet, the gold standard for heart-healthy diets, as the “Best Overall Diet” and “Best Diet for Healthy Eating” in their annual best diets list.
- And in the January issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a BOLD new twist on the DASH diet – substituting lean beef for white meat – improved heart disease risk factors across the board.
The Beef in an Optimal Lean Diet (BOLD) study found consuming lean beef daily as part of a heart-healthy diet lowered LDL “bad” cholesterol by 10%, which was just as effective as the DASH diet.1 This research provides convincing support that nutrient-rich lean beef can be an everyday part of a heart-healthy diet.
